Mother Nature
A Breast-Milk Bank
"Nourishing babies according to Mother Nature"

Baby Love Birth Center is very proud to team up with Prolacta BioScience to provide a breast milk bank in Cape Coral. Prolacta Bioscience is committed to ensuring that all babies – from the smallest premature infants to healthy, active babies – receive the nutrition that is right for them. As such, the company is devoted to nurturing community milk banks, which supply much-needed breast milk to hospitals for use with premature babies.

We accept donations of previously stored milk (got any left-over milk?) and are seeking motivated moms to pump extra breast milk, freeze it at home, and donate to the breast milk bank. The donated breast milk is pasteurized for use in hospitalized premature and ill babies. Breast milk donors get a free double electric breast pump.

Donors who live within driving distance of Cape Coral and Ft Myers only:

Donors must be healthy non-smokers and not taking medications or herbal supplements on a regular basis.

There is no minimum amount that you have to provide us. We accept donations of any amount of breast milk.

The easiest way to become a donor is to fill out the on-line donor questionnaire.

Cape Coral Ft Myers Donor Sign Up

Within a week after you complete the on-line questionnaire, you will be contacted to schedule your intake. At your intake you give us some samples of blood and a cheek swab.

Once you are accepted as a donor, we will ship your double electric breast pump to your home, and you will get your own bar-code labels to identify your donated milk.

The donated milk is processed in Prolacta's state-of-the-art facility in California and is formulated into standardized units for distribution to needy premature babies -- those whose mothers can't produce the breast milk they need to grow healthy and strong, because of illness or medications that interfere with breastfeeding.

Breast milk is best because:
  • It has the right balance of nutrients to help a baby grow.
  • It gives babies essential enzymes needed to break down food.
  • It provides babies with protection to fight bacteria and stay healthy.

Premature babies benefit most from breast milk. These babies need the milk’s rich nutrients and disease-fighting protection to grow. Breast milk can also help babies with failure to thrive, babies who can’t digest formula and babies with allergies. Breast milk has been clinically proven to decrease infections and other complications in preemies.

The breast milk you donate will be pumped by you at home and frozen by you at home. When it is convenient for you, just drop it off at Baby Love Birth Center's Breast Milk Bank in Cape Coral.

Your milk will be stored in our computer-monitored freezer until we ship to Prolacta. The donor milk is carefully handled, inspected throughout the process and pasteurized using state-of-the-art methods that ensure safety and quality.

The results of the blood and DNA test take about two weeks.

Once you pass the tests and we receive the release forms from your doctors/providers, we will ship your breast pump to your home and mail your unique bar-code labels for your stored milk.

You can store milk before you get your labels, but we cannot accept your milk at our center without the labels.

We also accept donations of breast milk you stored before you became a donor, as long as it is less than 3 months old.
